MCDEMA - Mississippi Civil Defense / Emergency Management Association

WHO IS MCDEMA? MCDEMA is an Association of local and state Emergency Managers and emergency response personnel who join forces across the state to unify and strengthen emergency management activities.

MCDEMA is governed by 9 elected district representatives, one from each state MHP district, three elected offices of President, President Elect and Secretary / Treasurer and the office of the immediate Past President.

If you work in an emergency management roll you need to be an active member and help further the cause of emergency management in the State of Mississippi.

WHAT IS MCDEMA? MCDEMA is a working organization of emergency managers from all over the state that address emergency management issues to the advancement of local and state agencies.

WHY MCDEMA? Each county, by state law, must have an emergency manager that has the responsibility of the organization, administration, and operation of a local emergency management program including the development of an emergency plan consistent with the State plan. The local program has the responsibility of protecting the health and safety of its citizens. MCDEMA works to help all member counties maximize their ability to plan, respond, train, and inform other agencies and the public on how to better survive a disaster.

WHEN & WHERE MCDEMA? MCDEMA sponsors two training Conferences each year. Annual Conference is held in conjunction with the MEMA workshop in May or June. The Mid-Winter Training Conference is usually held the first weekend of December. Location varies throughout the state on a year to year basis.

MCDEMA produces a quarterly newsletter that is mailed to all members.
